Knitting and Life :)

I knitted this hat for Glen's grandmother. I also knitted another in red for his other grandmother. I have been thinking about writing the pattern up, but I haven't had a chance to type it out.

I also wrote a pattern for a baby hat:
I hope to have this baby hat pattern up on my blog as a free pattern in the near future!

Holiday Goodness!

I found the tree. We've had it up for several weeks now. Here it is! I knitted a little camo sock. I also have a set of knitting needles leaning against the tree looking festive.

I've also made a holiday hat for myself:
It is a slouchy hat that I can pull down and cover my ears when it gets cold. I made a teal/green one in for my MIL in a similar striping yarn

This is a children sized version of The Boy Hat. I knit for 5 inches before starting the decreases. This makes a nice stretchy hat. It even fits my big head! I made this for a friend who is doing a little bit of holiday cheer for a group of children at a local Crisis Center. I only wish that I could have made more, but this was all that I could squeeze into my holiday knitting. I am still knitting a lace hat in mission falls 136 Blue:
This one is for his Grandmother and I made the same hat in a red for Nanna, his other grandmother. I was so excited when I finished Nanna's hat that I wrapped it up as soon as finished. I am planning to photograph this one when I finish it. Well, back to knitting.....

Looking for a Special Yule tree...

Well, since this will be our 1st Yuletide as a married couple, I want to put up a tree. We have a small 3-foot prelit tree that is in our storage area. There really is not a place that I could put the tree that we already own and plug it in. I have also been looking at small live trees, but nothing seems right. Monday, I saw the little tree that I want....

It is a Charlie Brown Christmas tree! I don't know the tree's size, or if it will work. It's just cute! Glen laughed when I showed him the photo. I don't know if the red bulb comes with it either

I have a small knitted sock that I made this year to commemorate my knitting my 1st pair of socks. I also want to get an ornament for our 1st holiday. Hmmm, what else should go on our tree??

Have a Beautiful Day!

knitting, crocheting and more crocheting

I went to see A Christmas Carol in 3d with my husband yesterday. It was our 1st 3d movie in the new digital 3d. It was amazing! We had a fantastic time.

I just finished a knitted lace hat for myself last night. Just in time too. It is getting very chilly here and I got my hair cut last week. I am also working on a side slip cloche for myself. It may end up for someone else when I am done. :) Here is a photo of it:
I have been working on some fleece blankets with crocheted edges for my family. I almost have my Mom's blanket done. Now, I just need to finish one for Dad, Amy and Kenny. Maybe I can get a little more crocheting done. I have a little bit of time before work!

National Talk Like a Pirate Day and other thoughts!

Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day. To commemorate this silly and fun day, I watched "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" with my client. I got called into work this morning for a few hours. We had fun. I said "Arrgh, it's talk like a pirate day. And we is watching a Pirate movie!" and he laughed and signed yes! :)

The Red Scarf Project is taking donations! I am looking for a pattern to make my donation. There is still plenty of time to knit a scarf to donate, but I need to hurry up and choose a pattern.

The submission period for the next Red Scarf initiative is set for September 1, 2009 through December 15, 2009. Send scarves to:

Orphan Foundation of America
The Red Scarf Project
21351 Gentry Drive
Sterling, VA 20166

Guidelines for Knitters:
Scarf Size: Approximately 60" long and 5" to 8" wide. Scarves should be long enough to be wrapped around the neck, with tails long enough to be tied in the front.

Style: Think unisex collegiate. Ask yourself if your son, brother, and/or husband would enjoy receiving the scarf. Fringes are optional. Your scarf should drape and tie easily.

Yarn: Preferably DK, double fingering-weight, worsted weight, or light bully yarns. No laceweight, super-chunky, or mohair yarns as there are many people who find mohair too itchy. The yarn should be soft.

Color: Red! However, this could mean burgundy, cherry, russet, red stripes with other colors, or multicolor hues including red. Other unisex colors, including black, navy, teal, olive or gold are also welcome.

Finished and tagged: Yarn ends should be securely sewn in. For a personal touch, attach a tag saying "Handmade for You" with your first name, city, and group affiliation, if any. Donors have also included washing instructions, messages of encouragement, gift cards, burger bucks, books of stamps, etc.

Good Grief what am I up to now?

I have been working on a lace slouchy hat to give as gifts for the holidays. I think that I am going to give the 1st one to my sister with a reversible cable scarf. I have started the 2nd hat for my MIL in the same colorway. My Mom doesn't usually wear hats, so I think that she will get a scarf or a shawl.

Today, I am full of random thoughts and it is time for me to get ready for work!

Update!

Wow, I haven't blogged in a while! Our car has a rebuilt transmission and is getting us where we need to go. I've been knitting socks. I am on stronger medicine for my asthma and bp medicine. I am coping with the side effects, but overall things are ok. DH starts school tomorrow.

Today I went to Sock Therapy! Yelley was very gracious and gave us a lesson in Toe-Up socks! I learned Judy's Magic Cast on:

Well, I am off to work on the cast on!! Have a beautiful Day!!
